Extraordinary Moments in an Ordinary Meeting
9/27/2012
The President of Broadway UMC’s (Bowling Green District) United Methodist Women discusses the experience of God’s presence at a recent UMW meeting. She shared these thoughts at a District UMW gathering.
Thursday night, September 20, we met at our regular time, in our regular place with an outstanding speaker and woman of God, Rhondell Miller. However, I don’t believe that any of us was expecting what God had in store for us at this meeting.

Broadway's Christmas Store
11/30/2011
Here at Broadway UMC (Bowling Green District), we feel like it’s important that children don’t miss out on the joy of Christmas. When you are a child, there is a magic that’s simply not explainable with words. We feel like every child should get to experience that.
Since 2007, we have partnered with TC Cherry Elementary—a neighborhood school that’s practically in the backyard of our main campus. We try to serve and support the school, its administration, its...

Members of Bowling Green Church Worship with Red Bird Partner Congregation
5/31/2011
On April 2, 2011 fifteen members from Christ UMC in Bowling Green traveled to Queendale Center at the Red Bird Missionary Conference. The purpose of the trip was to share in worship on Sunday with the members of Lower Beech Fork UMC, our partner church. Upon arrival at Queendale we were met by Craig Dial. Craig gave the group a mini-dulcimer concert, which the group enjoyed since six of the group are members of Christ UMC dulcimer ministry. Following a time of witness by Craig, he gave the...
Munfordville FUMC in New Sanctuary
1/28/2011
January 16, 2011 was a red-letter day at Munfordville First United Methodist Church (Bowling Green District) as we worshipped and praised the Lord in our newly built sanctuary for the first time. You may remember that “The Miracles of Munfordville” were presented at the Kentucky Annual Conference showing the progress made subsequent to the fire on December 22, 2003. The few church members decided that the church needed to be rebuilt and at a different location. As a result, land was...

Kirkmansville UMC - Open Hearts in the Open Air
10/29/2010
The members of the Kirkmansville United Methodist Church (Todd County, Bowling Green District) have a desire to share the love of Christ with their community beyond the walls of the church.
The parsonage behind the church had burned down several years ago, leaving a pile of rubble and overgrown weeds. Simply clearing the space was a good idea, but not good enough for this small congregation and Pastor Michael Ladd. The construction of a pavilion available free of charge to the churches...

Bowling Green District Youth Event: Valentine, Be Mine

On Sunday, February 15, one day after Valentines Day, about 90 youth and youth pastors came together from nine different churches in the Bowling Green District for worship and fellowship at Christ UMC. The JAWS of life! from Broadway UMC led in a great time of worship. What a blessing it was to see so many youth clapping and hands raised as they worshiped the Lord together! Brian Hicks from Brentwood UMC in Nashville on the true meaning of love: loving God deeper and loving our neighbor.

Bowling Green District Churches Take Food Race Challenge
12/4/2008
This was the first year for the Great Food Race Challenge in the Bowling Green District. The idea behind this came from a story in the Interpreter magazine a few months back where some United Methodist churches in Colorado did this.
One of my goals for the Challenge, in addition to the desire to help our area food pantries, was to have something where our UM churches would work together. I think that we represent God's Kingdom much better and more powerfully when we work together.
The rules...
Caring for Creation & Community: The Sugar Grove Garden
6/9/2008
Kevin Mays, pastor of Sugar Grove UMC (Bowling Green District), tells about several new projects started by the church’s youth.
Our youth have planted a garden, the purpose of which is to grow food for our new food pantry to feed the poor in Butler County. This stemmed from conversations and studies on developing a greater Kingdom-view of the world, versus the “it’s all about me” view that is all too prevalent in the world. And as the overall body at Sugar Grove has...

4/3/2008
A Perspective from Smiths Grove
"What is NCD?" you may ask. NCD is a process properly called Natural Church Development that has been successfully implemented by thousands of churches worldwide. It involves a self-analysis technique that results in church growth both spiritually and numerically when properly applied. Smiths Grove United Methodist (SGUMC) (Bowling Green District) would like to share our story and experiences that we have encountered during our year of...
