New Church Development

Welcome To VitalChurch 

This is the Resource site of the New Church and Congregational Development Department of the Kentucky Conference United Methodist Church. We are committed to developing leaders who make disciples who in turn make disciples. We provide resources and training for leaders to  begin new faith communities and return existing congregations to their original mission - to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Our primary method in leadership development is called an Incubator. An Incubator is:an environment where new ideas and new leaders are born, nurtured, and developed.

In an Incubator participants make a commitment to meet twice a month for four hours at a time for 12-18 months to �Love God � Growing in their relationship with Christ� to �Learn to lead� and to �Live as fully devoted followers Christ�.

In this process, the Incubator participants develop a ministry action plan (MAP) for their congregations. This site serves as a resource for incubator participants to write that MAP and enroll in online training events to assist them in developing their leadership skills. Over the course time, training material, (beginning with MAP development) will be added to the VitalLearing section of this site. This training area can be used by registered users who make a request to enroll in a specific course of study. 

This site will also provide up to date news of the work of the churches under the direction of New Church Development and links to resources available on the web.
