Candle Burning Ceremony/Penny and a Prayer

What is a Candle Burning ceremony?

Candle Burning - Honor a loved one.

Give to Candle Burning through your local United Methodist Women. The money collected is an avenue of mission giving. Pray about it and give to candle burning in addition to your regular pledge.

Your unit will burn a candle in honor of a loved one(s).

The amount of money that has been given will represent the total time the candle is burned. For each minute in 2013 that amount is $28.35 The amounts for Candle Burning are based on the Total Women’s Division Budget. The 2013 budget estimate is $14,900,000.

Penny and A Prayer

A Penny and A Prayer is an avenue of mission giving that is to put prayer back in our giving. Members are asked to give one extra penny a day and a prayer for our work as United Methodist in missions. Please start your Penny and Prayer jar today! It would be great to use the Prayer Calendar as a part of your daily Penny and A Prayer time. Penny and A Prayer is one of two ways your local unit can qualify for 6 Star mission giving.
